Zach Ostro is a Director at the Cypress Group.
Prior to joining Cypress, Zach served as Legislative Director for Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly (D-IL), a member of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce. Zach brings nearly seven years of legislative and policy experience in the U.S. House of Representatives in several areas, including financial services, technology, budget, tax, and energy.
In addition to handling Rep. Kelly’s service on the Energy & Commerce Energy and Consumer Protection & Commerce Subcommittees, Zach helped manage Congresswoman Kelly’s Tech Accountability Caucus. Through the Caucus he analyzed issues at the intersection of tech and banking policy such as application of consumer-facing blockchain technologies, use of artificial intelligence in lending, and data privacy and security.
Zach is a magna cum laude graduate of The George Washington University, a cum laude graduate of The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law with a certificate in Business Law, and holds an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business with a certificate in Nonmarket Strategy. His legal writings have been published by the Journal of Business & Technology Law and the Harvard Journal on Legislation. Originally from Cleveland, OH, he lives in Chevy Chase, MD with his wife and daughter.
